Global Scholarships Overview

There are two types of financial support for individuals wanting to further their education. Each is distinct and managed differently, so it is helpful to read the in-depth documents regarding each type.

Global Grant Scholarships

These scholarships are for graduate students studying abroad in one of the Six Areas of Focus. Scholarships range from one to four years and can include an entire degree program. Applicants must show proof of admission to the chosen university before the grant will be approved by the Foundation. These scholarships are funded using cash and/or the District Designated Fund, matched by the World Fund. The budget must total at least US$30,000, but a scholarship may be a component of a larger grant application: for example, a scholarship plus a humanitarian project. All global grant scholarships, are sponsored by a club or district in the host (study) country and a club or district outside of the host country.

Rotary Peace Fellows

Each year, Rotary selects up to 100 individuals from around the world to receive fully funded academic fellowships at one of our peace centers. These fellowships cover tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and all internship and field-study expenses. Two types of peace fellowships are available.

Master's Degree

We offer master’s degree fellowships at premier universities in fields related to peace and conflict prevention and resolution. Programs last 15 to 24 months and require a practical internship of two to three months during the academic break. Each year, we award up to 50 master’s degree fellowships at these institutions:

Professional Development Certificate

For experienced professionals working in peace-related fields who want to enhance their professional skills, Rotary International offers a three-month program in peace and conflict prevention and resolution at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. This program incorporates two to three weeks of field study. Up to 50 certificates each year are awarded.
