My dear friends around the world,
I have an invitation for you to be a part of something dear to my heart.  In 2013, the Rotary Club of Canyon Lake began planning to be a part of a program expansion at Community Resource & Recreation Center of Canyon Lake (CRRC) - a non-profit that provides vital social services to residents.

Studies and surveys had led CRRC to develop plans for a larger building that would house counselors and providers from other agencies.  The new center would, in essence, become a one-stop shop.  CRRC has already developed MOUs with outside entities that will bring medical providers, mental health counselors, job training experts and nutrition instructors to the community. But that is just the beginning. As our community continues to grow, services will expand as well. Canyon Lake Rotary and CRRC are working together to stay on top of needs.

The difficult part for me is that this project does not fit into any of Rotary International's Global Grant focus areas. We have visited with Evanston personnel, and we just can't fit our square peg into any of the round holes there.

Canyon Lake Rotarians had hoped to sponsor the training kitchen and classroom, a $50,000 expenditure. So far, we have raised $5,545 toward the project. Incoming donations slowed when we discovered we would not be able to do the global grant match. We still think that's a good starting amount for a small club like we have!

So, would you be willing to help us reach this goal and keep the naming rights in the Rotary Family? Your donations are tax-deductible in the U.S. because it is a 501(c)3 organization. I will be sending out a link for you to use, after March 15, to earmark your donations for this project. (We have a "giving day" on March 22 that will encourage more donations. My goal is to lead up to that.)

Thank you for your time and consideration.
YIRS (Yours in Rotary Service),
Maureen Schein
