Grants Program
Global Scholarships
For more than 100 years, Rotarians have joined together from all continents, cultures, and industries to take action in our communities and around the world. With a commitment to achieving lasting change, we work together to empower youth, enhance health, promote peace, and most important, advance the community. While Rotarians can serve in countless ways, Rotary has focused its efforts in six areas, which reflect some of the most critical and widespread humanitarian needs:
  • Disease prevention and treatment
  • Basic education and literacy
  • Maternal and child health
  • Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
  • Water and sanitation
  • Economic and community development
Rotarians planning new service projects are encouraged to consider these areas and the many opportunities for innovative projects. Click on the link to Rotary’s website, Six Areas of Focus, which provides an introduction to each area, as well as suggestions on how Rotarians and their service partners can address these needs both locally and internationally.
  • There are two grant types—District and Global
  • This website is designed to help our District 5840 clubs learn about the grant system, meet the requirements for qualifying for a grant, and then apply for a grant, either district or global.

Emphasizing the Six Areas of Focus

You can direct your Annual Fund gift to SHARE (which is shared with the District in three years), the World Fund, or an area of focus fund.
In order to create the most good with The Rotary Foundation (TRF) funds, there is an emphasis on Six Areas of Focus. Global Grants MUST address at least one of these six areas of focus and district grants are ENCOURAGED to consider the same criteria.

Global Grants should demonstrate sustainability of the impact of the project once the Rotarian involvement is complete.

Project Assessment and Support

Global Grants require an assessment of community needs for the proposed project and a demonstration of support and local community buy-in.

Rotary Club Commitments

All grant-funded activity follows a set of eligibility requirements and an expression of club commitment to the terms and conditions for The Rotary Foundation District Grants and Global Grants.
