Anti-Bullying Rally

The Rotary Club of Atascosa County invites families, students, educators, and neighbors from across the county to join us for our County-Wide Anti-Bullying Rally on October 14th at 5:30 PM at Jourdanton City Park!

 

Bullying isn't just “kids being kids.” It can affect a young person's education, friendships, self-esteem, physical health, and willingness to even go to school. According to the CDC, about 1 in 5 high school students reported being bullied on school property, while more than 1 in 6 reported electronic bullying through things like social media and texting.

And the effects can follow students well beyond the moment. Among students ages 12–18 who reported being bullied, 27.8% said it negatively affected how they felt about themselves, 19.7% reported effects on their schoolwork, and 25.9% said they avoided a place or activity at school because of it. We want to help change that.

 

This rally isn't simply about telling kids “don't bully.” It's about bringing our entire community together and showing our young people what kindness, friendship, inclusion, respect, and looking out for one another can look like.

We want kids from every community and every school across Atascosa County to come together, meet one another, have fun, and leave knowing something important: You matter. You belong. And kindness is always stronger than cruelty. 1 A better, kinder world doesn't happen because of one rally. It happens when families, schools, organizations, businesses, and neighbors decide together that we're going to build one. Let's start right here in Atascosa County.
