To assist with the relief efforts for the flood victims from the July 4th weekend, the board of the Rotary Club of Blanco County made a decision to donate $25 per member out of existing club funds. When it was announced to the club that we would donate the funds, some of the members "stepped up" and donated between $100 and $1000 of their own money on top of the club funds.
Before the check was to be written, Security State Bank (where the club has their checking account) announced they would "match" donations up to a maximum of $250,000. Upon hearing that, the club voted to "double" their money and give the funds collected to the bank.
At the club's lunch meeting on September 2nd, a check for $2875 was turned over to Ms. Veronica Jones (Blanco Rotary club member) of Security State Bank. With the "match" that "ups" the donation to $5750 to help with the flood relief efforts. Special thanks go to the members who went "above and beyond" with their individual additional contributions towards this donation.
