Blanco Elementary School’s Principal, Jowie Walker, has initiated a Homework Center this school year to assist students in grades 2 - 5 with their daily homework.
An elementary school teacher supervises the Center that is held after school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  Rotarians from the Blanco County Rotary Club provide the students assistance with their homework and oversight during Center hours.

Students in need of assistance are nominated by their teachers and approved to attend by their parents.  The Center is held in the school cafeteria and lasts 45 minutes.  Along with standards outlined in the BES Student Handbook, students are expected to attend regularly and display a positive attitude toward their academic success.

After only 2 weeks in operation, the feedback from teachers and the volunteer Rotarians has been positive regarding the academic benefits to the students  attending the new Homework Center.
