We are so proud of our Fabra Elementary School Early Act Club and their friends from the Viola Wilson Elementary Early Act Club for the massive success of their recent Mac & Cheese drive supporting students within the Boerne Independent School District. This is the third year the Fabra Early Act Club and the first year of the newly formed Early Act Club at Viola Wilson collected Mac & Cheese through a friendly competition.

Naomi Jendrusch, a Boerne Club Rotarian and Fabra Elementary School teacher, initiated this program three years ago and continues to build on its success of this school-wide activity. These young world-changers gathered over 5,156 servings for Blessings in a Backpack, an organization that feeds 600+ Boerne ISD students every single week. It is estimated that one in five children in Boerne lives in poverty and is at risk for hunger and malnutrition. The organization covers all 16 schools in Boerne ISD who might otherwise go hungry when school meals are unavailable. Blessings in a Backpack strives to alleviate these consequences of hunger by ensuring at-risk children receive consistent nutrition seven days a week.
A special "thank you" goes out to the Boerne Sunrise Rotary Club and the Boerne Rotary Club for helping us reach this amazing total. It is a blessing to see our youth so ready to give back and make a real difference for families in our community! The Boerne Sunrise Rotary Club and the Boerne Club co-sponsor Early Act at Fabra Elementary. The Boerne Club sponsors Early Act at Viola Wilson Elementary.
