The celebration welcomed 120 Rotarians, university leaders, students, donors, and non-profit foundations representatives.
The International Peace Leadership Academy, launched in 2022, is a partnership between RC San Antonio and RC Belfast and the Corrymeela Community Peace Center both of Northern Ireland. It trains young leaders from conflict-affected communities in Ireland and the UK, equipping them with Rotary’s Positive Peace principles and leadership skills to enact change in their communities.
This fall, 2024, Nurturing Hope San Antonio brought the International Peace Leadership Academy mission closer to home. Led by students from UTSA, St. Philip’s College, Northwest Vista, and Trinity University, the program empowers students with skills in collaboration, leadership, and civil discourse.
Additionally, the Rotary Club The Hague (Netherlands) is working to adopt a similar model. Through these efforts, Rotary and local universities are empowering young leaders to tackle issues of peace and diplomacy within their own communities.
The Seeds of Hope International Peace Leadership Academy is applying for a Rotary Global Grant. See GG2454123. To learn more: Contact the Rotary Club of San Antonio, by calling 210-222-8242 or email director@rotarysa.org.
