The City of Fredericksburg held the Ribbon Cutting ceremony atop Cross Mountain for the newly fabricated and erected cross. The funds were raised by the Fredericksburg Nimitz Rotary over a two-year period of time.
The previous cross was in a state of deterioration. A cross in some form or fashion has been atop the mountain since the early settlers arrived in Fredericksburg. The Nimitz club has also agreed to assist with other improvements at Cross Mountain Park.
