As Rotarians, we are committed to creating lasting change in our communities and around the world. One of Rotary’s key Areas of Focus—Economic and Community Development—guides us in helping individuals and communities break the cycle of poverty and build sustainable livelihoods.

This mission has taken on new urgency following the devastating floods in July, which left many communities in our district grappling with damaged homes, lost income, and disrupted infrastructure. In true Rotary spirit, clubs across our district are exploring meaningful ways to assist those affected—not only with immediate relief but also with long-term recovery and resilience-building efforts. Our District Foundation is working closely with Rotarians to identify ways to create meaningful impact with relief efforts.

Our response will align closely with Rotary’s development priorities: supporting local economies, empowering entrepreneurs, restoring livelihoods, and ensuring that communities can rebuild stronger and more self-reliant. Potential initiatives being funded and under consideration include replacing emergency equipment, supporting local Foundations and Rotary clubs and evaluation of other long-term needs.

We know that real recovery extends beyond emergency aid—it involves restoring dignity, opportunity, and hope. With our district’s collective strength, Rotary’s global resources, and partnerships with local stakeholders, we are well-positioned to make a tangible, lasting impact.

As plans develop, we encourage clubs to stay informed, share local insights, and consider how they might contribute—whether through hands-on projects, funding, or collaboration.

Together, let us reaffirm our commitment to being People of Action—and ensure that those affected by the floods are not forgotten, but empowered toward a brighter future as we Unite For Good!
