What an exciting month we're in! Our President Elects and Assistant Governors attended PETS and are returning to our clubs with a renewed inspiration to make each club the best it can be in the next Rotary Year! We also recognize the theme for March which is Water and Sanitation. We're reminded of the fundamental role clean water and sanitation play in building healthy communities.
Access to safe drinking water and proper sanitation is not just a basic human need—it is a right that millions still struggle to attain. Did you know that 2.2 billion people lack access to safe drinking water? Or that more than 4.2 billion people live without adequate sanitation services? Rotary has long been at the forefront of sustainable water projects, ensuring that communities gain not just access but also the education needed to maintain clean water systems. This month, I urge each club in our district to reflect on how we can further our impact in this critical area. Clubs cand participate in clean water projects, promote proper handwashing and hygiene education, especially for children, or even support rainwater harvesting just to name a few examples.
On March 8th we'll celebrate International Women's Day. Rotary has a proud history of championing women leaders, change-makers, and humanitarians who work tirelessly to improve communities worldwide. From advancing education for girls to promoting maternal and child health, Rotarians continue to make a difference in ensuring a more equitable and just world. Don't forget we want to see pictures of all of the AMAZING female Rotarians in our District with their Rotary shirts on March 8th so get creative and post those pictures on social media so we can all celebrate the contributions women have brought to Rotary around the world!
