What was your most memorable Rotary service project? My most memorable Rotary service project was serving as Group Study Exchange Team Leader to Argentina. Seeing Rotary’s impact of service projects at the international level was very inspiring.
What part of your cultural heritage are you most proud of? My parents encouraged me to be a good student with a strong work ethic. They also inspired in me a love of America but at the same time inspired me to love my Mexican culture and love the Spanish language. I got the best of both worlds.
What was the most important professional decision you made? The most important professional decision was to complete my Ph.D. right before I retired. I used the degree to consult low performing campuses. Ninety percent of the schools were able to become academically successful after the year of intervention. Three of them went on to become National Blue Ribbon Schools.
