Fredericksburg Morning Rotary held its 14th annual Kraut Run in October 2024. For the first 13 years, the club donated funds to local literacy efforts including Books for Babies, dictionaries for fifth grade students, club scholarships and other unspecified local literacy programs.
In 2024, the club voted to dedicate funds raised to three specific causes. One-third of the money raised went to the local Zonta Club chapter to launch and fund the first two years of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Gillespie County. This program provides one book per month to a child, from birth to age five. Another third went to the Fredericksburg ISD Education Foundation. The foundation provides grants to local teachers to help fund various projects. The last third went towards club scholarships. The Morning Rotary Club has traditionally helped provide funds to students entering trades and nursing programs. If the student is in good standings, the club will provide financial support for a second year.

These causes continue to support local literacy efforts while being more intentional and clear about where monies raised from the run are being distributed.
