On January 6, the Rotary Club of Fredericksburg presented its 2024-2025 Hans Hanneman Community Service Award to Bernice Weinheimer (second from right). The Hans Hanneman Award recognizes a nonRotarian in the community who exemplifies the Rotarian deal of "Service Above Self" in their vocational and community service.
Mrs. Weinheimer was nominated by former Rotary president Ronni Pue. Presenting the award was Sloan Gunter, committee chair (second from left). Mrs. Weinheimer was recognized for her work to help create the Gillespie County Country Schools organization, her work with the Gillespie County Historical Commission, and her efforts to help form the Stonewall Heritage Society. "She was a part of that generation that created the environment that made Fredericksburg and Gillespie County what it is today in terms of its strength of character," Pue said. Also pictured (left to right) are Dennis Hanneman, son of the award namesake, Ronni Pue, and Bruce Weinheimer, eldest son of the honoree.
