Welcome to Rotary District 5840, covering 44 counties in beautiful South Central Texas. We now have 2521 Rotarians in 57 clubs and 3 satellite clubs. We began as District 584 in 1912 with The San Antonio Rotary Club organized by Herbert J. Hayes.

We became District 5840 in 1991. We now have 2521 Rotarians in 57 clubs and 3 satellite clubs. Each of our clubs has its own culture, projects, and goals. What we have in common is our commitment to service above self and the core values of Rotary: integrity, diversity, fellowship, leadership, and service. Our vision is this: together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.

Rotarians work toward a world that allows peace to all humans. This peace is not just freedom from war but also freedom from the scarcity of food, sanitation, water, medicines, shelter, employment, and literacy. We do this by focusing on our 6 areas of focus.

·         Disease prevention and treatment
·         Water and sanitation
·         Maternal and child health
·         Basic education and literacy
·         Economic and community development
·         Peace and conflict prevention/resolution

Rotarians have been the driving force to end polio throughout the world and are very close to achieving this goal.

This year our district call to action is increasing awareness of human trafficking to all our Rotarians and the communities in which we live. We are the people of action that make lasting changes and believe we can impact this crime in our communities.

We invite you to explore this website and rotary.org so you can see what we as Rotarians in District 5840 do to enhance the quality of life in our communities and throughout the globe. Come join our group of innovative leaders.

I am very excited to be the District Governor of this outstanding district, as we meet the challenges in our communities.
