The Rotary Club of Medina County is holding a Hometown Heroes BBQ Event at Hondo City Park #1, 733 FM 426 N, Hondo, TX 78861 on Friday, October 23 from 5 to 7 pm and Saturday, October 24 from 10 am to 2 pm. This is a fundraising event with funds coming from sponsors, teams competing in the BBQ, vendor booth fees, and beverage sales; funds raised over the costs of the event support Rotary projects including scholarships. Last year the event allowed us to give $8,200 in scholarships.
The event also honors our Medina County first responders with a meal, door prizes, entertainment, a vendor fair, and kids activities. The event is open to the public to enjoy Touch-a-Truck on Friday evening and the entertainment, car show, vendor fair, and kids activities on Saturday.
We are seeking those who like BBQ to assist us with the judging; eighteen judges are needed for each category and one may judge in one or more categories. See the team flyer for the categories and their times; judges need to arrive 1/2 hour prior to time for a brief CBA training.
We are also seeking vendors and food trucks for the the vendor fair portion of the event.
