San Marcos Rotary was a lead sponsor, together with the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District and other nonprofits, in organizing a Human Trafficking - Child Trafficking Town Hall in San Marcos April 18. The goal was to create greater awareness of the problem and alternatives for addressing it. 
Speakers at the event included Kirsta Leeburg Melton, Deputy Criminal Chief of the Human Trafficking and Transnational/Organized Crime Section of the Office of the Attorney General of Texas, and Hays County Crime Stoppers Executive Director, Jeff Jordan. Melton told stories about cases she has tried and red flags in the community to look for. San Marcos Rotary President, Peter Baen, introduced the speakers, which was attended by educators, law enforcement officers, youth serving nonprofit staff, and community members.
