Fredericksburg Morning Rotary Club’s 15th Annual Kraut Run, featuring 8K and 5K timed runs and a 5K walk will be held on Saturday, October 5th with start/finish at the Fredericksburg Middle School at 110 W. Travis St. Thanks to many generous sponsors, proceeds of the race support the FISD Education Foundation, scholarships for local students and the start of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Gillespie County
y. All participants can register at www.oktoberfestkrautrun.com. Organizers of the event are expecting its largest number of participants as registration is up over 15%from this time last year. All registered runners/walkers will receive a long-sleeved technical race shirt, and medallions will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age group, for each timed race. The top man and woman finisher in each race receive an engraved beer stein. Kraut Run is a family friendly event, with room to push strollers, and plenty of course marshals to be sure registrants stay on the course. Family pets on a leash are also welcome. A post-race celebration will be held at Town Pool, featuring traditional race snacks and beverages plus sausage and beer.
Early packet pickup will be held Friday, October 4th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Jack and Adam’s Bicycle Shop at 206 South Lincoln Street, Fredericksburg. Athletes who pick up their registration packets on Friday will be entered in to win one of two gift card drawings for Leroy’s Tex-Mex BBQ and Jenschke Orchards. Gift cards are being donated by Map It Out. Race-day registration and check-in will start at 7:00 a.m. and races start at 8:30 a.m. Race-day registration is allowed. Kraut Run will make a best effort to match shirt sizes for athletes registering September 21 st through the day of the race. Out of town athletes may want to pick up a map and guide of places in and near Fredericksburg to enjoy before they arrive for Oktoberfest Kraut Run.
