Rotary Club of New Braunfels Career and Tecnical Education (CTE) Chair Austin Milam recently helped organize a two-day Teacher Summer Externship Program for New Braunfels ISD and Comal ISD teachers in CTE fields to help them gain insight into real-world companies and tailor their curriculum in the classroom to meet the needs of employers. The teachers received credit from their districts for attending.
Milam, along with Rachel Behnke from NBISD, Renee Martinez from CISD, and Mike Crowley from the New Braunfels Chamber, organized the program. On June 4th, 20 teachers toured Senior Flexonics Pathway, Resolute Baptist Hospital, and Continental USA. On August 1st, 18 teachers toured the New Braunfels Rehabilitation Hospital, Hunter Industries, and the Walmart Distribution Center.

Milam commented "The tours themselves were awesome and actually classified in certain aspects. It's great to know so many great things are happening here in New Braunfels that are actually leading the nation, and also willing to get involved with teachers to help our future generations lead the world someday."

The Rotary Club of New Braunfels is committed to supporting CTE education in our local school districts and annually awards scholarships to local students who intend to pursue 4-year, 2-year, and CTE educations.
