Nimitz Rotary mourns the passing of one of our beloved members and past president, Debbi McCleod McCurdy. Debbie passed suddenly on May 15th in Cloudcroft, NM where she and her husband, Mike, had settled to retire. Debbi was an exemplar Rotarian.
She served as our President for year 2023-24. She helped lead many efforts for the Nimitz club, including our partnership with Wounded Warriors at Nebo and Samaritan's Purse, as well as other fundraising efforts. She was passionate about animals, rescuing as many dogs as she could along the way and caring for her many horses on their ranch. Her most recent passion project was raising funds for a much-needed helipad in Cloudcroft. This effort was born due to a bad fall she had and rescue efforts were hindered because of the lack of a safe place for the transport helicopter to land.
She had a strong faith in God and was instrumental in the formation of Fredericksburg Cowboy Church where they referred to her as "The Matriarch." Her mantra in life was, "God's got this!" She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
