This past month members of the Rotary Club of Boerne (Noontime) were once again serving their community. The Rotary motto of “Service Above Self” was exemplified by their picking up of garbage along the banks and in the waters of Cibolo Creek.
Their help was enlisted by the Cibolo Center for Conservation, which has maintained this wonderful resource in Boerne. Many of us have enjoyed walks along the creek, watching wildlife along the creek, and even catching a fish or two in the creek.

These cheerful volunteers also “caught” many surprising things in the creek: part of a car bumper, a full bottle of chocolate milk, a child’s plastic chair and many more interesting catches. Usually they were picking up plastic cups and bottles. So, if you’re enjoying the beauty of nature as you wander around Boerne, thank a Rotarian. This year alone they have planted trees, repainted signs along our trails, picked up garbage and so much more.
