GOALS:  Congratulations to the 33 of 56 clubs with goals in Rotary Club Central!  We should pick up another 12 within sixty days and will be in constant contact with the others the rest of the year.
LEARNING CENTER:  Lots of great Foundation courses in the Learning Center.  Refer to last month’s newsletter article by Alamo Heights president-elect Kristen Salazar about how the courses are guiding her Rotary development.  Plus, she tells you where to look online for the Rotary International Learning Center.  Our archived newsletters are available for download from the homepage of the district website.

DISTRICT GRANTS:  As advertised, checks were in the mail the last week in August to clubs awarded district grants from our annual allocation from The Rotary Foundation.  Thirty-three clubs applied (ten percent increase from prior year) and five of the applications were international in nature (Mexico, Guatemala, and Peru).

IRS & Annual Financial Reviews:  Please manage the business-side of club operations and file your IRS returns as appropriate.  Also have somebody other than the treasurer review your 2019-2020 financials.  More information on this subject is available on the Treasurer portion of the district website.

GLOBAL EDUCATION GRANT:  College seniors are already considering post-graduate plans and have begun contacting Rotarians about funding graduate school overseas with a Rotary Global Education Grant.  We offer a $30,000 scholarship annually and the application deadline is November 20, 2020.  Look for more info on the district website, this time under the Foundation banner section’s Scholarship section.

FOUNDATION SPEAKERS:  November is the theme month for Rotary Foundation speakers at your club meetings—but we are available year-round.   PDG John Hutcherson chairs our Annual Fund (that’s the fundraising aspect of the Foundation that drives our humanitarian projects), Amy Bawcom chairs our Major Gifts and Endowment activities, Charlie Wasser is our Polio Plus chair and I can deliver on a variety of topics.  Plus, we have several other very experienced Rotary Foundation speakers (including Rotary Leadership Institute facilitators).  Please contact me if you are looking for Foundation speakers:   Jerry Hardy; hardyj@swbell.net
