Hunger is made worse during the Covid19 lock-down and North Central Rotary Club continues to help.
We have continued to distribute our Bags of Hope for the most food in-secure elementary school children in the North Central Area of San Antonio. We have partnered with Kitchen on the Street - San Antonio to provide snacks for students identified by the Family Specialists at their Elementary Schools as having little to no food on the weekend. This association began over eight years ago between Winston School San Antonio Interact Club and their faculty. San Antonio North Central Rotary Club has provided funding and manpower during the monthly bagging operations, and Phyllis Rumsey, NC Rotarian, has been instrumental during the lock-down in distributing the snacks to those Family Specialists coordinating with the SA Food Bank.

NC Rotary has concentrated on those schools in the N.E.I.S.D. that are Title I listed schools. In the recent past, we have found a large increase at those schools due to an influx of refugees from all over the world, that are resettled and attend school in our area.

Kitchen on the Street -San Antonio, previously an offshoot of Kitchen on the Street in Phoenix, is now an independent 501c(3) as FISH Food Insecurity Stops Here.
