San Marcos Rotary hosted a sold out Mardi Gras Casino Night on February 13 at the Commemorative Air Force Museum at the San Marcos Airport. Ticket sales reached the occupancy limit for the venue and revenues and sales are expected to be the best ever for the event, which included casino games, Cajun food and live music, festive decorations, prizes, and a $15,000 diamond raffle.
Peter Baen and Sharla Marshall co-chaired the event. Eight Rotaract students from Texas State University volunteered, together with more than 40 members of the Pi Kappa Alpha (Pikes) fraternity at Texas State. The mayor of San Marcos, Jane Hughson, volunteered to serve as a celebrity blackjack dealer.
