Scroll, scroll, scroll… people move quickly through social media. So how do you make them stop? How do you grab attention long enough for them to read your message?
It starts with strong visuals.
- As Rotarians, we are “People of Action”. Choose as your main photo something that shows members actively serving, volunteering, and engaging with the community. Action photos tell a story and create a connection that captures attention.
- Before taking pictures, make it a habit to wipe off your phone camera lens. A clean lens can make a huge difference in the quality and clarity of your photos.
- In a world where more graphics are being created with AI tools, it’s also important to protect and properly represent the Rotary brand. Even with an uploaded proper logo AI sites tend to distort the wheel. So under the recommendations from Rotary International it is suggested to not upload the club’s logo. My work-around is to create a box where the logo goes, upload to Canva, or some similar creation system and paste the logo in the box. As AI progresses I am sure this work-around will not be necessary.
- When designing flyers or social media graphics, keep them simple. Too much text overwhelms people, and most will keep scrolling without reading. Use short, clear messaging that highlights the most important details; who, where, when and why.
- Most importantly, lead people back to your website or event page. Make it easy by including a clickable link so they can quickly learn more or get involved.
