The Rotary Club of Alamo Ranch partnered with Texas A&M University–San Antonio’s ENGL 1302 students, led by Dr. Elizabeth Olaoye, to bring service-learning into the classroom.

As part of their first service project, students volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in San Antonio, gaining hands-on experience in construction while serving local families. Students learned to safely operate a table saw, paint materials, transport wood frames, and nail and assemble components.
Students are exploring Rotary’s Seven Areas of Focus and learning how service can connect academic learning with real community needs.

Through this partnership, students developed teamwork, communication, and practical skills while putting Rotary’s “Service Above Self” into action.
