On August 1, members from the Boerne Rotary Club, Boerne High School Interact Club, and Scout Troops 102 and 180 helped collect school supplies at the Boerne H-E-B in support of Communities in Schools “Stuff The Bus”. The Boerne Rotary Club sponsors the Interact Club and both scouting troops.
The day started at 9:00 am and ended at 5:00 pm. Each 2 member group shared a two hour shift where they asked customers if they would donate new school supplies for students. Boerne is a very generous community and several large containers were filled with suggested school supplies including a donation container to assist in funding areas of need.
The Communities in Schools (CIS) mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and to achieve in life.
This program is one of the largest school supply drives in South Texas. Each summer (June-August) there is a community-wide campaign mobilizing over 500 volunteers at 52 H-E-B stores that provides essential school supplies reducing barriers for families. This effort culminated on “Stuff The Bus Day” on August 1. Students at more than 115 CIS-SA campuses including Uvalde and Kerrville benefit from this program. The impact of these drives helps students start school prepared, confident, and ready to learn while opening the door to relationships.
