Members from the Boerne Sunrise Rotary Club recently attended a ceremony sponsored by the Hill Country Daily Bread Ministry’s Stand by Me Student Mentoring Ministry program serving at-risk and youth grades K-12. This event featured one of their programs, “Summer Leadership Academy”, where students who participated in the program shared their testimonies with the audience and the effect it has had on their lives.
According to donor development officer, Melissa Guerrero, “the goal of this faith based program is to help children overcome adverse effects of poverty, equip them to serve as Christian leaders, and lead them towards a bright future”.
Club President Reg Cully and members Rich Sena, Mike Glick, and Cha Karulak had the opportunity to speak with several of the students after the event. The Rotarians were able to learn more about the impact this program has made in their lives and the tools they learned to help overcome challenges they may face. The students mentioned this program also increased their self-confidence and aided in making better choices.
The Boerne Sunrise Rotary Club provided funds for students to attend this summer program.
