Brooke Ellerbe, a 2025 Honors Scholar graduate from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), has been selected as our 2025–2026 Rotary District Global Scholar. She will continue her academic journey at London Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom, where she will pursue a Master of Science in Public Health.

Brooke earned her Bachelor of Arts in Medical Humanities with a concentration in Biology at UTSA. During her time there, she held numerous leadership positions in prestigious service organizations, including the Terry Scholars Student Organization and as a UTSA Resident Assistant.

“Service is at the core of my mission—not as a single act, but as a lifelong commitment,” Brooke shared. “For me, service is a way of life—a philosophy rooted in reflection, education, and action.”

Brooke’s long-term goal is to become an OB/GYN with a specialization in maternal and child health. She is particularly passionate about improving equitable access to reproductive care for underserved populations. This mission aligns closely with one of Rotary International’s seven Areas of Focus: maternal and child health, which emphasizes reducing maternal and infant mortality, increasing access to essential healthcare services, and promoting healthy pregnancies through education and advocacy.

Following her studies in London, Brooke plans to attend medical school. She also looks forward to staying connected with Rotary by sharing her experiences abroad with local clubs in Central Texas.

We are proud to share that Brooke's Global Grant Scholarship is jointly financed by Rotary International and the Rotary District 5840 Foundation, demonstrating the collective commitment to supporting emerging leaders who are dedicated to creating a better world though education and service.

We are deeply grateful to the Rotary Club of San Antonio at The Dominion for stepping up to serve as Brooke’s International Sponsor Club and to the Rotary Club of Kew Gardens in London, UK, for acting as her Host Club.

A special thank you goes to Jim and Linda Montgomery of the San Antonio at The Dominion Club for their dedicated support as Brooke’s International Sponsors. Their efforts are helping to ensure that Brooke’s transition to London is smooth—helping facilitate her travel, accommodations, and tuition. Our thanks also extend to the Kew Gardens Rotary Club for providing guidance and support while Brooke studies in the UK.
