March is a time to recognize and celebrate the strength, leadership, and impact of women around the world. This year, we’re inviting Rotarian women across our District (and beyond!) to join us in a month-long celebration highlighting the incredible women who serve and lead in Rotary.
Rather than limiting the celebration to March 8, we are turning International Women’s Day into a movement that lasts the entire month.
There will be a Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) on Saturday, Sept. 20th, 2025 from 8:30AM to 4:30PM at the Northwest Vista College,3535 N Ellison Dr, San Antonio, TX 78251. Click for map. Classes will begin at 9AM. The institute is $50 and is open to all Rotarians. Click to Register.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 28th for the EARLY ACT DISTRICT 5840 CELEBRATION at the Salado Elementary School! The kiddos need our support!! They are collecting donations of beanie caps, lap blankets and non-skid socks for the Wellsential Health Rehab Center. Please share this list with your club as they need our help!
Currently the District 5840 Donor Advised Fund has $90,000 available for matching grants to clubs of District 5840. You can find the application form and information about the grant program on the District website.
The Rotary Club of Fredericksburg Foundation gave a $5,000 donation to Frontera Healthcare as proceeds from its 2025 Fredericksburg Craft Beer Festival. Fredericksburg Nimitz Rotary raised $64,000 at their Annual Charity Golf Tournament. $30,000 of the funds were from a grant provided by Create Healthy. The funds were used to place AEDs (automated external defibrillators) in all law enforcement vehicles in Gillespie County and the City of Fredericksburg.

San Marcos Rotary hosted a sold out Mardi Gras Casino Night on February 13 at the Commemorative Air Force Museum at the San Marcos Airport. Ticket sales reached the occupancy limit for the venue and revenues and sales are expected to be the best ever for the event, which included casino games, Cajun food and live music, festive decorations, prizes, and a $15,000 diamond raffle.
RCSA unveiled our 29th Kingdom for Kids Playground at the YWCA thanks to the generosity of the Najim Foundation. Providing safe and fun places to play takes on new meaning when the project is planted at the YWCA’s new Women’s Live and Learn Center, a place for holistic healing and fresh starts for young moms and children. Thanks to Kingdom for Kids Founder and Past President Rick Cavender for the vision of ensuring every Child has a safe and beautiful place to play.
The Rotary Club of Beeville continues to make a meaningful impact in their community through their literacy service project—the installation and ongoing enhancement of a Little Free Library. Designed to promote reading, learning, and access to books for all ages, the project has quickly become a valued resource for local residents.
The Rotary Club of San Antonio Northwest continues to live out Rotary’s commitment to service above self, demonstrating what it truly means to be #PeopleOfAction. In January, club members completed an impressive 14 San Antonio “Adopt-a-Spots” litter clean-up projects, dedicating their time and energy to keeping their community clean and welcoming.
Members of the West Kerr Noon Rotary Club delivered beds Saturday in conjunction with an organization called Sleep in Heavenly Peace. A local chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace was recently started in Kerr county by West Kerr Noon members. The goal of Sleep in Heavenly Peace is to provide beds for families in need.
Each month on the 4th Wednesday, San Angelo Sunrise members donate food items to the Angelo State University Food Pantry. Students frequently are in need of food items, and our club makes a significant contribution to the Food Pantry. Pat Malloy and Dean McInturff made the March delivery.
Jimmy Cobb recognized Bill Pennington for 65 years of membership in the Rotary Club of San Marcos at the club's February 25th meeting. Bill's father was a charter member of the San Marcos Club when it began in 1921.
Fredericksburg-Nimitz Rotary Foundation Chair Ralph Bowen presents a check for $3300 to The Grace Center Executive Director, Hattie Heiner. Funds were raised at Texas Heritage Vineyard’s quarterly Bingo and Vino for a Cause event.
Let’s taco’bout how amazing our annual Rotary Club of San Antonio, TX Blood Drive was with Torchy's Tacos Lincoln Heights and South Texas Blood & Tissue! Thank you to all our dedicated Rotarians and Friends who participated. Together we collected 24 units of blood which will help save 72 lives across Texas!
17 Rotarians participated in delivering handwritten Valentine’s and candy to our treasured neighbors at a local nursing home. Each valentine was personalized and we had a wonderful time visiting with these fine folks!
San Antonio Northwest Rotary arranged a visit to the HR Data Center in San Antonio through their executive offices in Colorado. Enrique Birriel, DCIE/Director, of the San Antonio H5 Data Center, gave a very informative presentation and tour. Craig Hardy, our Rotary DG, and Bobby Martinez, Rotary DG Elect, were present, as well as Sa Huynh of Alamo Ranch Rotary Club, who partnered with our club in the visit, and her guest, a data science specialist.
