The official District Governor visits have started and I'm thoroughly enjoying visiting the clubs in District 5840! Thank you all for being so welcoming to myself and others from the District Governor Line who have joined me on the visits. August is the month that the kiddos head back to school to continue furthering their education.
The District Governor Nominating Committee met on July 6, 2024 and selected Jere Pace from the Rotary Club of San Antonio Mission Trail for the position of District Governor for Rotary District 5840 for the term beginning July 1, 2027

A fundraiser was held at Texas Heritage Vineyard tasting room for the Fredericksburg Navy Junior Officer Training Corps July 11th. The Nimitiz Rotary provided food by donation and raffled gift baskets.
The Fair Oaks Ranch Rotary Club members foster harmony and keep their city beautiful by picking up trash along busy Ralph Fair Road. Our Adopt-A-Highway program is a great way to bring about positive change in our community.
Several District Interact Clubs collected approximately 25 large plastic trash bags of bottle caps this school year. The bottle caps are delivered to a private recycling company in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico that melts them down, and transfers the money to a non-profit organization in that city.
eClub of San Antonio “Project Literacy Impact promotes family literacy , with books in the community, schools, and daycares. We believe reading with understanding of words, embrace good citizens, higher education, strong careers, and families.
Rotary Club of Fredericksburg International Projects Co-Chair Debbie Sultemeier took 22 soccer balls donated by Club members with her on a trip to Tanzania to visit schools where Rotary has been funding water and hygiene projects. Co-Chair Caryn Crump donated paper and pencils for the schools, and other Club members donated soap products.
Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Blanco County, along with the Lucky Leaf 4-H and Friends, recently packaged 250 Hygiene Kits for delivery by HOPE Ministries to orphanages and schools in Northern Mexico. Each kit contained a wash cloth, soap, a tooth brush and paste, soap and a brush and comb.
On Friday, August 23 from 8:30 a.m. to noon San Marcos Rotary will package school supplies for children in seven villages in northern Mexico, and nonprofits in San Marcos, including the Hays County Women’s Shelter and the Youth Services Bureau. The event will be held at First Christian Church, 3105 Ranch Road 12, San Marcos.
Members from the Boerne Sunrise Rotary Club recently attended a ceremony sponsored by the Hill Country Daily Bread Ministry’s Stand by Me Student Mentoring Ministry program serving at-risk and youth grades K-12. This event featured one of their programs, “Summer Leadership Academy”, where students who participated in the program shared their testimonies with the audience and the effect it has had on their lives.
Save the date - September 14 - and plan on attending Rotary's "Taste the Grape" wine tasting fundraiser. A fun evening of tasting and grading wines and enjoying charcuterie meats and cheeses all while raising money for Rotary's many projects for 2024-2025.
