I hope this message finds you all well and in good spirits. I want to applaud you all for finding new ways to serve the communities in which you live and those abroad, fellowship, and fundraise as we navigate uncharted waters. Your willingness to take on the role of selfless service even amid such challenges as COVID-19 is why we are more than mere volunteers; we are Rotarians! Our theme for August is "Membership & New Club Development," and I would like to take a moment to highlight just what that means and why we should focus greatly on it.
We're excited to announce the first-ever Virtual District Town hall event starting Thursday, August 13, 2020, at 6:30 p.m. The virtual town hall events will bring in special guest speakers from all around the world with varying topics to inspire, inform, and support the work we are doing as Rotarians!
I have been a member of my club for two years, but it was in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic that I learned what it truly means to be a Rotarian. When my state of Texas went into quarantine, our club president, Brandon Logan, set up a ‘virtual happy hour’ on Thursday evenings.
The Rotary E-Club President Eddie Knightington accompanied Mayor Mary M. Dennis made a generous donation of gift cards on May 26 to Live Oak First Responders for all their efforts during the pandemic. The club provided the firefighters with 20 gift cards from Williams Confectionery.

Members of the San Antonio Northeast Rotary Club volunteered at the Texas Diaper Bank on Saturday, July 25th. Club members repackaged diapers into 25 count packages for clients that receive assistance from the Texas Diaper Bank and their 54 partner agencies.

Recently, the Rotary Club of Alamo Ranch organized two donation drives to benefit the Bexar County Battered Women and Children's Shelter. The club accepted new/gently used clothing, homeware items, and cleaning supplies, which will be used by survivors of domestic violence as they get a new start and transition into a safe and healthy living situation.
There is great joy when a child is born and again when they can learn about the world through books. In a few short years that child is on a tract to get a good education but if for whatever reason that child is not reading at 3rd grade level by the 3rd grade he or she is on a very slippery sloop that leads to a very difficult life.
Kerrville Rotary Club held a successful First Responders Golf Tournament Fundraiser on June 15. They had over 82 players which is more than they have ever had before.
