Members of The Rotary Club of Blanco County and American Legion Post 352 joined forces to provide a "Thank You Breakfast" for the hardworking PEC linemen during their safety meeting on October 8. Rotary Club Past President Harvie Lindeman and American Legion Commander Kathie Estrada expressed gratitude for the linemen's dedication and long hours - especially after the July 4th floods.
The Beeville Rotary Club completed two service projects for the community this month. The first project brought Rotary volunteers out as partners with the Bee County Historical Society to showcase the service, longevity, and reach of the Rotary mission and the Beeville Rotary Club in a vacant historic storefront window.
San Marcos Rotary mobilized 140 volunteers ranging in age from 7 to 97 to pack 14,400 bags of nonperishable food, each serving six meals. Volunteers came from San Marcos and Wimberley Rotary, Rotaract at Texas State University, the Lions and Kiwanis Clubs, and 45 fraternity and sorority students at Texas State.
The West Kerr Noon Rotary Club and Ingram Tom Moore Interact Club together volunteered at the Mega Food Bank. Located at Light on the Hill in Kerrville.
Did you know that Seguin, TX, is home to an incredible outdoor art exhibit? The Seguin Squirrel Trail features nearly 30 uniquely decorated squirrels that visitors can find all over town! This popular, family-friendly attraction just got an exciting new member, thanks to the Rotary Club of Seguin.
The Rotary Club of San Antonio Northwest is teaching local elementary students the power of kindness through heartfelt creativity. In October, 300 handmade “Get Well” cards created by students from three elementary schools were delivered to children at Baptist Children’s Hospital, Methodist Children’s Hospital, and Christus Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital — 100 cards to each location. These touching messages reminded young patients that other kids care about them and their recovery.
The Rotary Club of San Antonio, TX invites the District to join in their Holiday initiative and polio fundraiser with the Texas Giving Machine from Nov 17th - Dec 7th at Historic Pearl. Join RCSA in their mission of RotaryLightsTheWorld through sponsoring polio vaccines, holiday gifts for children in shelters and hospitals, Kingdom For Kids playground equipment, community cleanup and preservation, and youth scholarships.
Fredericksburg Nimitz Rotary raised funds to equip all law enforcement vehicles with life-saving AEDs. Defibrillators can be the difference in life or death in many emergency situations.
Several Rotary clubs across District 5840 hosted World Polio Day events in October to raise awareness and funds for Rotary’s fight to eradicate polio. Currently, wild polio remains endemic in only two countries—Afghanistan and Pakistan—with 38 total cases reported worldwide this year, shared District PolioPlus Chair and PDG John Hutcherson.
The Jourdanton Rotary Club held their annual Homecoming Pre-Game Dinner on Friday, October 24th at the Jourdanton High School Cafeteria to benefit local scholarships. Local restaurant and community supporters, Chile Bandera provided chicken bowtie Alfredo, salad, green beans, and breadsticks to be served by the Rotary members. Desserts were for a donation and homemade by members.
The Rotary Club of San Antonio Oak Hills had a wonderful evening of food, fellowship and fun! Raising over $35,000 for student scholarships, nonprofit efforts and Pints for Polio. 3 nonprofits were awarded checks during the event. Thank you to all who supported our event!
The Rotary Club of Kerrville proudly participated in the Hunt School Festival, setting up a vibrant booth to engage with students, parents, and community members. Festival-goers had the opportunity to learn more about Rotary’s mission, discover the projects we support locally and globally, and connect with our members. It was a wonderful day of fellowship and community outreach, and we are grateful to everyone who visited our booth and joined us in celebrating service above self.
Fredericksburg Nimitz Rotary raised funds for the local women's shelter, the Grace Center. $2,300 was raised in conjunction with Texas Heritage Vineyards quarterly Vino & Bingo for Cause event held October 23rd.
The San Marcos and Wimberley Rotary Clubs jointly hosted a Pints for Polio event at Middleton Brewing, a micro brewery on Ranch Road 12 halfway between the two towns. The event was on World Polio Day, October 24, and about 100 tickets were sold.
Rotarians from the Fair Oaks Ranch Club worked together to host the 13th Annual Charity Golf Classic at the Fair Oaks Ranch Country Club. The golfers enjoyed beautiful weather and good fellowship all while helping to raise critical funds to support local charities throughout the year. Great job everyone!
“One of the most beloved and lighthearted traditions of the Come & Take It celebration (and a family favorite)—the Chicken Flying Contest—once again drew laughs, cheers, and plenty of feathers”! This event has long been provided by the Gonzales Rotary Club. The Club also designs a t-shirt to sell at the event every year. Proceeds fund scholarships and other service projects.
San Antonio Northwest Rotary is making a big impact on the environment through the City of San Antonio’s Adopt-a-Spot program. What started with five clean-up locations has now expanded to 45 adopted sites—including parks, medians, and roadside areas—kept clean by dedicated Rotarians throughout the year.
At a recent Friday noon regular meeting of the Rotary Club of San Angelo, the winners of the annual Fire Safety poster contest were recognized. This project is the longest continual project of the Club, and has been running for over 50 years.
We had 48 bowlers come out for the San Antonio Northeast Rotary Club’s 15th Annual Bowling and Silent Auction Fundraiser. We also had many other folks come out to bid on our silent auction items. This year’s event raised approximately $4,000.
The Presidents of the Jourdanton, Pleasanton, and Poteet Rotary Clubs participated in the President's Jersey Challenge for football season in Atascosa County. The losing President has to come to the winning team's Rotary meeting and wear a team jersey all in the name of good sportsmanship and good fun!
In 2023, Seeds of Hope: International Peace Leadership Academy, was founded in Northern Ireland by the Rotary Club of San Antonio in partnership with Rotary Clubs in the UK and Ireland. Seeds of Hope is a year long academy that equips young leaders to transform conflict, unite divided communities and lead with courage.
On September 22, 2025, our community, and Gonzales Rotary Club, lost a beloved son, husband, father, and great service heart. Bruce joined Rotary in 2023 and got to work immediately providing suggestions for service to and in our community. Even before he was promoted to his position as District Executive for Scouting America in the Capitol area Council for Boy Scouts, he worked with Rotary to sponsor a chapter of Explorers in the Gonzales High School. He shared his experiences in Rotary with others to pique interest in joining the Club.
