What a great year this will be as we all get back together in person to do the work of Rotary!  I am very proud to be your new District Governor for 5840, as I start this very important and "Change Maker" Rotary Year.  
Pearl Rotary Offical Chartered!
Join us in welcoming our newest chartered Rotary Club - Pearl Rotary here in Rotary District 5840 - South Central Texas!! Congrats to all 30 charter members who will build, shape, and grow not only Rotary but themselves towards the greater good. The Pearl is one of the most desirable places to see and experience in San Antonio. So upon your next visit, be sure to stop by and say hello to fellow Rotarians.
Oak Hills Rotary Providing Clean Water for School in Mexico
The Rotary Club of San Antonio Oak Hills is a partner with the Rotary Club of Nueva Rosita, MX to purchase/install the RO drinking water equipment and water distribution piping required for new water purification systems in multiple schools in the Nueva Rosita area. 
San Marcos' Rise Against Hunger Dinner
On Friday, June 18 the Rotary Club of San Marcos had a Rise Against Hunger Dinner at First Christian Church in San Marcos. The ingredients that are packaged and shipped overseas by RAH were the basis of the meal, so Rotarians could experience a meal similar to what food recipients experience.
Golf Tournament Great Success
The Rotary Club of Blanco County held the Joe Garcia Memorial Golf Tournament at Vaaler Creek Golf Course in Blanco on June 7.
Kerrville Morning Rotary Awards Scholarships
Kerrville Morning Rotary recently awarded two, $1,500 scholarships to local students; one from Tivy High School and one from Ingram Tom Moore High School.
Be Strong and Courageous
On Tuesday, May 25, 2021, eleven High School students from Del Rio and Comstock were awarded $1,000 scholarships from the Del Rio Rotary Club, after a review of their applications and interviews.
Volunteer of the Year!
The Hondo Chamber of Commerce held it's annual 2020 Banquet on Saturday, June 26th, and the Rotary Club of Hondo - D'Hanis was the recipient of the Volunteer of the Year award!  
Wilson Interact's 25 Year Anniversary Celebration
The Winston School Interact Club held its 25th Anniversary Celebration on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the Winston School Greehy Family Foundation Dining and Assembly Hall. Eight past Interact Club Presidents and other officers were on hand for the event. Army Captain Dominic Cavallini, a 2011 graduate of the school was the emcee for the night.
Hail Relief Concert
A benefit concert was held Sunday, June 13th at the Medina County Fair Hall, to help cover expenses caused by the hail storms that caused much destruction in Medina County in April.  
Giving Back
President, Jimmy Culp, presents a check for $3174 to Sharon Massey and Dottie Pieper of Wounded Warriors at Nebo.   The club raised the money by selling BBQ plates at a Memorial Day celebration at the home of Neal and Pam Martin.   Many, many thanks to all who participated and donated.
Fair Oaks Ranch Installs Greg Maxton as New President
The Fair Oaks Ranch Club held its annual Installation Dinner on June 23rd at The Bevy Hotel in Boerne.
Rotarians Partner with Meals on Wheels
The Hondo - D'Hanis Rotary Club partnered with Medina County Meals on Wheels to help deliver over 65 fruit baskets & meals to local homebound residents.  
Paul Harris Fellow +5
Congrats to Deb Bowen for receiving Paul Harris Fellow Plus 5 pin!  Deb is an exemplary Rotarian and human being.  We are proud to have her as our own (Fredericksburg-Nimitz).   Congratulations, Deb!
Medical Supplies For Mexico
Hondo/D'Hanis Rotary Club delivering PPE's to Del Rio Rotary Club. The equipment was donated by the Medina Regional Hospital and will be delivered to the Acuna Rotary Club for distribution.
Worthy Causes
President Jimmy Culp presents checks for $1250 each to Denise Usener from the Golden Hub and Jonathan Baethge from the Fredericksburg Food Pantry.   Both worthy recipients considering last years struggles.
Youth Citizenship Awards
Kerrville Rotary held their yearly program that provides Citizenship Awards to area fifth grade students.  
Alamo Heights Helping Seniors
Alamo Heights Rotary President David Clapp (center) presented Jefferson Outreach (JO) CEO Bri Valdez (2d from left) with a check today as part of a $5000 donation supporting their activities delivering food and sundries to homebound seniors.
Rotary Club of New Braunfels’ Hill Country Craft Beer Festival Huge Success
The Rotary Club of New Braunfels recently held their spring fundraising event, the Hill Country Craft Beer Festival (HCCBF), a one-day Texas craft beer tasting and music festival that raises funds for the club and for distribution to local non-profit groups throughout the region.
San Antonio South Meets In Person For First Time In Over a Year
The Rotary club of San Antonio South finally is back meeting face-to-face. Stinson Airport was the site of the first meeting, June 1. The meeting was well attended and a few joined in on Zoom.

The Providence Rotary Interact Club completed one final service project before leaving for the summer.  
Pleasanton Rotary Club Awards Scholarships
The Pleasanton Rotary Club is proud to announce its 2021 scholarship winners.  These students were recently honored at the Pleasanton HIgh School Awards night.  The club usually awards $5000 a year but was able to increase that this year to $6,000 in cooperation with  Rotary 5840 and district grant funds.  
Global Grant in Columbia
Pictured plaque notes Rotary support from a global grant for three schools in Cocuta, Columbia providing $80,500 for three chemistry labs in their schools. Our District 5840 is among the listed contributors, which evidences the teamwork of Rotary clubs and districts across the globe.
Beeville Tackles Out-of-Control Waste
In 2019, Rotary International implemented a partnership with the United Nations addressing the concerns of plastic waste on our environment. This partnership calls for reducing the use of plastic, changing the industry to use less and different kinds of plastic, and implementing more recycling.
