On Thursday morning, August 7, 2025, District Governor, Craig Hardy had the honor of presenting the keys to a brand-new Can-Am All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) to Jimmy Dreiss, Fire Chief of the Divide Volunteer Fire Department. This critical piece of equipment was purchased through a grant from our District 5840 Foundation and secured through the dedicated efforts of AG Kristi Shepherd and PDG Kristy Vandenberg, both of whom joined him for the presentation.

Chief Dreiss shared that the Divide VFD serves three counties, covering nearly 900 square miles, including Kerr County. On the morning of July 4, his team was called into action, courageously participating in search and rescue operations in the Hunt and Ingram areas of west Kerr County. The new ATV will greatly enhance their capabilities, allowing them to access rugged areas unreachable by larger vehicles.

This marks the first delivery in a broader initiative to assist those affected and those who answered the call to aid communities impacted by the recent Kerr County floods. The District 5840 Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization funded through generous donations, proudly supports such efforts. As we Rotarians Unite for Good with other organizations, we continue to exemplify our commitment to Service Above Self.
