Rotary Club of Fredericksburg Morning made a $5,000 donation to benefit the K-9 Patrol program of the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office. The donation was made directly to 100 Club of Gillespie County, a 501c3 charity that financially supports local law enforcement.
The 100 Club will use the donated funds to purchase K-9 conversion kits which replace the back seats of deputy vehicles with supplemental air conditioning, food and water for the K-9 dogs. The cages also feature a remote-controlled door to be released by a deputy in the event of an emergency.
“Our Rotary club is excited to be able to help our community Sheriff’s office with this program,” said Brian Wiggins, president of the club. “Our club raised these funds at its annual CarFest car show this past June.”
The 100 Club will be purchasing three of these units at a cost of $7,800 each.
