San Marcos Rotary Volunteered at the Teacher Reuse Store Providing Teachers With Free Classroom Supplies. Eighteen members of the Rotary Club of San Marcos helped to sort and shelf donated books and other classroom materials at the Teacher Reuse Store in July.
Teacher Reuse (teacher-reuse.org) is a nonprofit organization that collects and distributes donated supplies from individuals, businesses and nonprofits to public and charter schoolteachers. Teachers use shopping carts and roam the aisles of the facility, which was previously an Eddie Bauer store at the Tanger Outlet Mall in San Marcos. Items available include bulletin board materials, books, art supplies, science equipment, furniture, and recreation equipment.
Teachers spend on average more than $1,000 each on classroom supplies not provided by their school. Teacher Reuse was founded by former teachers who recognized a need to address this financial burden. The group provides supplies to more than 600 teachers in dozens of different schools around Central Texas.
