August is Rotary's Membership & New Club Development Month, and it offers us an opportunity to reflect on what membership truly means. Now more than ever, Rotary doesn't simply need more members—we need more Rotarians.
There is an important distinction. A member may attend meetings, but a Rotarian embraces our mission of Service Above Self. Rotarians are the ones who volunteer at service projects, lead committees, mentor new members, and inspire others to become part of something bigger than themselves. They don't just fill a seat at the table—they help build the table.

This year San Marcos will thank meeting guest speakers by donating a book to the San Marcos school libraries with a dedication in front honoring the club speaker. The books are chosen by the head librarian for the school system. The goal is to promote reading and literacy while also increasing awareness of Rotary among young people.
Volunteers serving in Kerrville this past weekend made a meaningful difference in one family's recovery from the recent flooding. Working alongside Operation Blessing, volunteers—including girls from Camp Mystic who were assisting with cleanup efforts—helped clean the family's flood-damaged home.
San Marcos Rotary Volunteered at the Teacher Reuse Store Providing Teachers With Free Classroom Supplies. Eighteen members of the Rotary Club of San Marcos helped to sort and shelf donated books and other classroom materials at the Teacher Reuse Store in July.
Members of the Rotary Club of Alamo Ranch and the Rotary Club of San Antonio South joined more than 1,000 volunteers July 17–19 to celebrate Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio Guadalupe Valley’s 50th anniversary by helping complete a home in just 50 hours. Rotarians assisted with building wall frames and landscaping alongside volunteers from across the community.
San Antonio North Central Rotary Club proudly continues its long-standing tradition of cultural exchange by sending two students to our sister Rotary Club of Takamatsu, Japan. In return Takamatsu Rotary will host our two students and North Central Rotary Club will host two of their students providing a unique opportunity for all participants to immerse themselves in each others cultures and culinary traditions. This program not only fosters international friendship but also enriches the lives of young people through shared experiences.

Rotary Club of San Antonio began our 2026-2027 Rotary Year with Service Above Self at the San Antonio Food Bank! Our Rotarians rolled up their sleeves to help sort and packed 33,248 pounds of food which translates to 26,598 meals to be distributed! Every box packed represents hope for Families across our City.
