As we approach the close of another Rotary year on June 30, this month’s theme of Rotary Fellowships reminds us of the friendships, partnerships, and spirit of service that unite Rotarians across our district and throughout the world.
The Rotary year began under extremely difficult circumstances as devastating July floods swept through the Texas Hill Country, affecting many of the communities served by Rotary clubs throughout District 5840. Homes, businesses, schools, and public infrastructure sustained major damage, leaving countless families facing uncertainty and hardship. For many communities, recovery became a long and ongoing process that required both immediate assistance and sustained support. Play video
As Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes more common in Rotary communications, Rotary International has released AI Guidelines for Members to help clubs and districts use these tools responsibly while protecting privacy and the Rotary brand.
It’s time to celebrate the Clubs that went above and beyond this year by completing the Rotary Rockstar Challenge! Designed to strengthen public image and showcase the incredible work happening across our communities, the challenge included six levels of activities focused on storytelling, engagement, membership promotion, and visibility.
San Antonio Airport Rotary Club celebrated the teachers and staff at Ridgeview Elementary in San Antonio, Texas. Teachers Appreciation was Week, May 4-8, 2026. Rotarians provided lunch from Olive Garden to over 60 teachers , to include administrative and support staff.

The Rotary Club of Uvay proudly celebrated the grand opening of the Ox Ranch Splash Pad with a Festival on May 9, 2026, at Jardin de los Héroes Park. After the dedication and hard work of four Rotary presidents, the long-awaited community 1.8 million dollar project is finally complete and officially open to the public. The festival brought together local families, community members, and vendors for a day filled with celebration, laughter, and excitement as children enjoyed the splash pad for the very first time.
The Rotary Club of Kerrville, in partnership with the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office, has taken an important step toward enhancing public safety by providing a state-of-the-art Responder-class drone to local first responders. The project was made possible through Rotary District flood-relief grant funding and reflects Rotary’s ongoing commitment to supporting community needs through innovative solutions.
At the request of the Hill Country Needs Council, members of the Nimitz Rotary Club performed a much needed cleanup of an elderly couple, one of them being handicapped. Helping out were Jimmy Culp, Rusty Eberle, Greg Cavanaugh, Ronnie Jung, Jack Schumacher, John Hollimon, Chad Steinmetz, Charlie Montgomery, Rob Price, Steve Kneese and Marti Perkins. It took two days of work to clear and haul off the debris.

Along with the $13,000 in vocational scholarships that were recently donated to students on Gillespie County, The Rotary Club of Fredericksburg Morning recently made a $2,500 contribution to the Bob Hickerson Memorial Scholarship Fund. The fund is managed by the “Forging Futures Education Fund”.
Blanco County Rotarians Jack Twilley, Steve Kumbalek, Suzanne Kustelski and Leta Garcia, along with other Rotarians, were recently recognized by the Principal of Blanco Elementary School for their volunteer support throughout the school year to improve the reading skills of Kindergarten, First and Second graders. Principal Suzie Seabolt attributed the Rotarians' help to the improved reading scores of K-2 graders.
San Marcos awarded a total of 15 scholarships at $1,500 each this spring to high school seniors at San Marcos High School, the San Marcos Academy, and Hill Country Christian School. The club funds scholarships from the proceeds from a golf tournament and an endowed charitable fund. Pictured are some of the scholarship recipients from San Marcos High School.

The Rotary Club of Alamo Heights recently demonstrated its commitment to education and community impact by presenting a $10,000 endowment check to The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW).
San Marcos Rotary donated $5,000 to the San Marcos Greenbelt Alliance, $2,500 of which came from a Rotary District 5840 Grant. Most of the money was used to purchase attachments for a Bobcat Skid Steer to help construct a new trail to the underserved Dunbar neighborhood.
The Rotary Club of Fredericksburg Morning recently donated $5,000 to the Jeremiah 29:11 Foundation. The Foundation is in the process of building a youth community center called The Hive Collective. A temporary location for the Hive is operating on North Llano St.
The San Angelo Rotary Club’s history begins in 1926, when San Angelo was the epicenter of the Permian Basin oil boom. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Fort Worth, the club received its charter—Number 1919—on November 17th.

Nimitz Rotary General Scholarship: $2,000 to Mason Stacey, a Harper senior graduating 3rd in a class of 41. He will be attending Texas Tech, majoring in Business and intending to become an author. His English teacher indicated that he's already developed and written an intricate 18,000-word novel!
Rotarians helped more than 200 households in Fair Oaks Ranch participate in a free paper shredding drive giving them a secure way to dispose of sensitive documents while promoting recycling.

In April 2026, the Rotary E‑Club surprised longtime youth volunteer Ariana with a warm baby shower. Ariana joined the club in 10th grade, attended RYLA as a junior, and returned as a student leader her senior year.
Ariana will continue her education at Prairie View A&M University, all while remaining connected to the Rotary E‑Club and demonstrating the leadership skills she developed through Rotary.
The San Antonio North Central Rotary Club recently organized a Mother’s Day service project crafting 125 personalized cards with heartfelt messages and prepared 125 gifts for patients at Heart of Texas Hospice. This initiative reflects the club’s commitment to community service and its ongoing partnership with hospice.

The Rotary Club of Blanco County held its Annual Joe Garcia Memorial Golf Tournament on May 4 and is pleased to announce it was the club's most successful golf fundraiser to date! Golfers and volunteers enjoyed a day of perfect weather and fun times while raising funds for the club's many community service projects, including scholarships for graduating seniors at Blanco and LBJ high schools.
